Primary Care Trust Services

If a General Practitioner (GP) suspects a vascular problem, patients are currently referred to the local hospital for outpatient consultation followed by investigation. This is costly and delays diagnosis and treatment. In certain vascular patients, the GP could arrange an inexpensive and non-invasive vascular investigation before deciding whether a vascular consultation is needed.

GP direct access to colourflow duplex imaging will significantly reduce:-

  • Outpatient waiting times
    • Patients only require consultant appointments for proven vascular disease
  • Treatment times
    • Patients with carotid disease or aneurysm can be prioritized and listed for surgery at their first consultation
  • Costs
    • Duplex imaging is less expensive than an outpatient consultation, reducing the need for consultations

All IVS services include:-

  • qualified vascular scientists
  • high quality portable ultrasound imaging
  • hand held Doppler
  • portable services within 30 miles radius of an IVS main hospital
  • computer generated report at the time of investigation
  • report and patient data stored on our database system
  • access to our database system for retrieval of duplicate reports
(data can only be provided to the hospital at which the examination was performed or to the patient who has been investigation who must apply in writing with confirmation of details (i.e. correct name, dob, address at time of investigation)
The Hospital or GP Health centre provides:-
  • reception/waiting area
  • patient appointment systems
  • a suitable, well ventilated room with window blinds
  • examination couch
  • desk
  • broadband internet connection
